Makeup For Beginners: How to Apply One Eyeshadow (Video Tutorial) / by Erin Baynham

How to Apply One Eye Shadow

It's time for me to refresh some of the makeup videos that I did many, many moons ago. I know that everyone doesn't want to dive into wearing four eye shadows at one time, so I figured this might be a better way to go. I'll do two demonstrations, using a fluffy brush and a flat brush. Here's the updated 2013 video on how to apply one eye shadow.

Brushes

The fluffy brush that I used is the Crown Brush C433 Pro Blending Fluff brush and the flat brush that I used is the MAC 242 Shader Brush. You really should play around with the different types of brushes and decide what works best for you. I've had both of these for a few years, and I use them often. Remember, the fluffier the brush, the more sheer the shadow will be.

Primers

MAC Painterly Paint Pot and  Too Faced Primer Insurance are my favorites, hands down. Here's a review post with swatches and more details.

Ready for Two Shadows?

If you're looking to apply two shadows, I've got a new video coming your way this week. If you can't wait that long, check out my 2009 how to apply eye shadow tutorial. It's an oldie, but goodie!
