Introducing Nyakio: Beauty Products Inspired by Kenya / by Erin Baynham

Nyakio Body Scrub Here's the line that caught my eye: "Nyakio Kamoche Grieco, the brand’s founder and namesake, created the brand to pay homage to her family’s heritage and share their beauty secrets, and also to fill a gap in the marketplace, bringing the timeless beauty traditions and sophistication of Africa to women everywhere." How could I not be curious?!

First up, the coffee body scrub ($55). Please let it be known that coffee and I have a love affair. If there's java in a product, I'm trying it! Some of the key ingredients are kenyan coffee, mongo nut oil, shea butter, sugar, jojoba seed oil, avocado oil, grape seed oil, sweet almond oil.  When I opened this scrub, I was in awe of the scent. It reminded me of my uncle who travels to Africa a few times a year. I never really knew what the scent was that went through his house, but it's in this scrub! One thing to remember when using a body scrub is to use a little bit at a time. If you apply too much, you won't feel that "abrasive" effect.

As I used it on my hands and arms, I immediately felt softer. There's a gel in the scrub, which is different then any other scrub that I've used before. I can only imagine the miracles that will happen on my feet!
